Mythic Patterns

In the design of Yiwu Lounge, abstracted symbols serve as the visual core. The Four Celestial Beasts — Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise — are distilled into minimalist super-symbols: geometric beast motifs. These condensed yet potent graphic elements permeate the space, establishing a highly recognizable spatial identity.

Cosmic Quadrants

Drawing from the distinctive hide patterns of each beast, we extracted a series of totemic textures and applied them across walls, partitions, and floor surfaces. These patterns not only extend the mythological imagery but, through contemporary design methodology, construct an immersive mythological narrative atmosphere that amplifies the spatial visual tension.

Vertical Continuity

Positioned with the central stage as the cosmic axis, the Four Celestial Beasts occupy the four cardinal directions — east, west, south, and north. Leveraging the double-height atrium, a suspended central installation is proposed to achieve vertical continuity between the first and second floors, dissolving the spatial division between levels.
